    Tears, Flags and Salutes as SFC John C. Beale Comes Home

    6/12/09 There were many tears shed in the crowds that gathered to honor SFC John C. Beale as he traveled to his final resting place in Henry County.  Beale was killed in action in Afghanistan June 4th. His body was flown into Peachtree City's Falcon Field airport last night and then traveled along Hwy's 74, 85 and 54 through Fayette. Large numbers gathered on short notice along the route to honor his service and sacrifice. Flags of all sizes were held by all ages. Helicopters flew in the sky and countless police officers, sheriff's deputies and patriots accompanied the hearse and family vehicles to the Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Home.

    Spc. Brushaun Anderson

    11/4/10 The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Spc. Brushaun X. Anderson, 20, of Columbus, GA., died Jan. 1 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when he was attacked by an unknown assailant. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
