Jackson EMC Foundation Awards $10,000 to Friends

8/17/09 The Jackson EMC Foundation recently awarded a $10,000 grant
to the Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services to support the senior
meals program and the senior home repair assistance efforts.
Jackson EMC District Manager Roger Willis stated, “We are honored to be able to assist our area seniors with such basic needs as food and shelter. The Operation Round Up customer donations are really being put to a good cause.” There are approximately 100,000 Jackson EMC customers in Gwinnett who participate in Operation Round Up. For a few cents more, the customers round up their bills each month. The extra dollars go directly to the program and in turn benefit a number of nonprofit organizations in Gwinnett. Gwinnett County Senior Services (GCSS) Manager Linda Bailey adds, “Budget cutbacks at the state and county levels have had a devastating impact on senior meals service, so this grant is deeply appreciated. We appreciate the generosity of everybody associated with Jackson EMC.” The goal of GCSS is to help seniors remain independently in their homes with dignity for as long as possible. Currently, GCSS provides 135,000 home delivered and congregate meals to seniors. For more information on the services Gwinnett County Senior Services has to offer, please call the Senior Helpline at 678.377.4150 or make a monetary donation to Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services, P.O.
