Coweta Chamber Announces New Young Professionals Group

3/6/10 The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce is launching a new group specifically for up-and-coming business leaders in Newnan and Coweta County. The Young Professionals of Newnan-Coweta County will offer its members an opportunity to network with one another to share experiences and knowledge that will benefit their growth as professionals and community leaders.

This new group is a project of the Chamber's Membership & Marketing Committee and the brainchild of committee member and Newnan native Chris Herdener, a financial services professional and an agent with New York Life and the Grant Financial Group. He and other young professionals will serve on the board of the Young Professionals organization.

“I’ve attended meetings of similar organizations in other counties, and saw that there’s a great opportunity to bring young professionals together here at home,” said Herdener. “Our goal is to offer a combination of regular networking events, local service and charitable activities, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

“In addition, we want to make sure that up-and-coming business people are made aware of the resources and connections that the Chamber of Commerce provides, and that they will use the Chamber as they build business and careers here in Coweta County. It also will allow the Chamber to expand its outreach and offerings to this new and growing demographic group.”

The Young Professionals plan to start their activities with after-hours networking events and expert-led “lunch and learn” sessions each month. (Dates will be posted on the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce website, www.newnancowetachamber.org.)

“The Chamber is delighted to help create and foster this new group,” said Candace Boothby, Chamber President and CEO. “It’s great to see a younger generation of leaders emerging here and taking the initiative to engage with one another and the Chamber to strengthen their networks and ties to our community. They will be a great asset to Newnan and Coweta County, without a doubt.”

Members of the Young Professionals of Newnan-Coweta County are: Chris Herdener, Financial Advisor, Grant Financial Group, LLC (chair); Kevin Askew, Director of Sales, NuLink; Marché Boykin, Career Center Manager, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers; Samantha Brooks, Wine Consultant, Bright Eyes Wine; Todd Brown, Owner, Lifeguard Roofing Company; Danielle Byrd, Director of Marketing, The Byrd House; Ginger Couch, Director of Community Relations, The Benton House; Andrew Dunn, Sales Manager, Canongate Golf Clubs; Rett Harmon, CEO, Duffey Commercial Leasing and Management; Jamie Jones, Realtor, RE/MAX Around Atlanta; Seth Millican, Vice President, Brock Clay Public Affairs – Atlanta; Denver Payton, Relationship Banker, RBC Bank; Tina Prudeaux, Co-Owner, America Grading and Land Clearing, Inc.; Teresa Schissler-Boichot, Independent Sales Director, Mary Kay Cosmetics; Aleisha Steele, Human Resources Manager, Cargill – Newnan; Matthew Swope, Attorney, Rosenzweig, Jones, Horne & Griffis, P.C.; Kristi Westlake, Owner, Westlake Design Studio, LLC; and Candace Boothby, President, Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce.
